The Federal Ministry of Health on Friday, donated health commodities to the Lagos State Government in its effort to control the reoccurrence of cholera outbreak in the state.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Sani Bala, who presented the donation on behalf of the ministry in Abuja, said government was determined to ensure that no cholera incidence occurred in 2014.
He said, “Some of the items donated include one carton of 10 by 500ml ecoflac plus and aquatabs for water purification.
“Some others are 10 packets of sterile potassium chloride, five packets of ampicilline sodium injection of 25 bottle each, two cartons of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) of 2000 sachets each.”
Bala said all necessary medical requirements for the control of the disease had been provided.
He said the ministry had provided interventions to 28 states, including Lagos, adding that the interventions were to augment what the states were doing.
The permanent secretary pledged the ministry’s commitment to continue to work together with various states to curb outbreak of diseases.
The Officer at the Lagos State Epidemiology Unit, Ministry of Health, Mr. Bankole Akinwate, who received the commodities on behalf of the state government, expressed appreciation for the gesture.
